Energy Warriors Program

The Business and Outreach sub-team has collaborated with Cornell Cooperative Extension in the Energy Warriors Program, which helps prepare incarcerated students at the Finger Lakes Residential Center for careers in green energy and technology. They have visited the facility multiple times to participate in the program’s classes, in addition to hosting students for a tour of Cornell’s campus. Business and Outreach put together a proposal for a multi-week lesson to teach students about sustainable practices in buildings, which was featured in the program’s final report to the state.

The program has since evolved to train members of the larger Ithaca community for entering the green workforce using the Roots of Success environmental literacy curriculum. The Business and Outreach sub-team is working to take part in teaching this program in the future.
